Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival 2007 Highlights
2007 Race Highlights
This new international sports event will be positioned as one of the top three dragon boat races in Hong Kong, and one of the most attractive for local and overseas teams to compete in.
Staged off Tai Wan To Beach (Power Station Beach), the Festival has a spectacular backdrop of the Lamma coastline, overlooked by the imposing peak of Mount Stenhouse.
As a cross-cultural sports event, the Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival features local Chinese and expatriate teams plus oversees teams flying into Hong Kong to compete to make a incredibly diverse melange of sporting and cultural backgrounds.
With men’s, women’s and mixed divisions the tournament will attract a wide range of participant and spectator demographics, particularly Chinese families with children and expatriates aged 25 - 40 with substantial disposable income.
The Festival will be staged during dragon boat racing season the week prior to Stanley dragon boat races, when the local media are most interested in covering dragon boat races.
Promoters of the Festival are the highly experienced sports event management specialists, Thirsty Horse, who’s portfolio includes international soccer, tennis, athletics and cricket events.
Dragon boating is a popular sport in Hong Kong and internationally and has a positive, healthy, outdoor sporting lifestyle image which can be leveraged by sponsors for brand and product association across a whole range of products and services.
Community involvement is a priority for the event, and the Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival 2007 will designated an Official Festival Charity. Substantial fundraising efforts will be made to benefit both the charity and the positive profile of the event.
